We are receiving overwhelming requests to take in horses and dogs. Times are very hard for everyone and, sadly, animals are suffering in these tumultuous economic times. Even though our donations are down, we are going to do our best to help as many animals as we can. We are primarily a retirement farm and we have wonderful permanent animals, but we are going to take in a few animals at a time to put up for adoption. Please everyone, do your home work and figure in board, feed, vet bills, farrier expenses, and emergencies. We want only the best for our animals and would love them to go to a loving, forever home.  All of our dogs and cats are adopted as INSIDE PETS ONLY and you MUST have a FENCED-IN YARD.

Adopted

Auna is a 15 year old Paso Fino mare. Her life hasn't been the best, and she has had cruel trainers and owners in the past, but when she trusts you, she stays by your side and loves human companionship. We have saddled, but not ridden her, and she did just fine; people that have known her said she is great on trails. However, with someone who has a kind hand, patience and love, she will become their best friend.   Auna is a very sweet mare that has never offered to bite or kick. She is a very easy keeper, trims, clips and shoes great. She will make a wonderful companion, and did I mention she loves her horse cookies?

TRAVELER

Traveler is a sports horse that will be adopted as a companion horse only. He is 24 and little bit of a hand full and not much on ground manners, but he is working on that. He is very sweet and kind and just working on some issues. He also has some issues being turned out  with the other horses, but is very comfortable spending time with Bright (donkey).  He seems to work will being turned out with mares.

Lance is a 15 year old Paso Fino gelding.  I'm not to sure of his past, but have heard he was a show horse at one time.  I have ridden him many times, but he doesn't know much. He doesn't like to be taken out on trails by himself, but has nice gates when working in the round pen.  He doesn't like to be clipped or bathed, but he will stand all day to be brushed without ever offering to bite or kick, and stands nicely for the farrier. Also, wherever you are, if he sees you, he will always talk to you.  He is easy to catch in the pasture and is a very easy keeper who loves his horse cookies.

Smokey is a young Border Collie. He was kept in a dog pen all his life and lacks social skills. He has a lot of energy and is learning to use it in a positive way. He is doing great learning basic obedience skills, and considering he lived his early years alone, he is really coming along in his dog skills. I'm very happy about his progress, but at this time I don't see any signs that he will work livestock, but it is still very early in his training. Smokey will be put up for adoption to the right person after more training. Please check back on his progress and feel free to inquire about him any time.

Jack Russell Terrier Puppies

In January 09 I was able to rescue over 20 dogs from a puppy mill. I was able to place all the dogs with other rescues for the exception of 4 Jack Russell Terriers. Two of the females where pregnant and after a very hard delivery we had two litters of the cutest babies. We have a few of the puppies left for adoption: they are all females, and very full of themselves. They have all their shots, spayed and are on Interceptor, and Frontline Plus. The girls are very social and have been around Horses, Llamas, Deer, Pigs, Emus, Chickens, Peafowl, Fennec Fox. They have seen cats, but haven’t been around them on a regular basis. They have been around children of all ages. They love to run chase balls, and they LOVE to swim! They would love to go to a farm where they could be part of everything going on at the barn. Just as long as they could curl up with you at the end of the day in a big comfy chair. They are doing well on housebreaking , but still get excited and will have that OOPS from time to time. We are working on lead lessons and they are going very well. Please do your research on Jack Russell Terriers they are a very busy breed, but I can’t imagine my life without one of these very dear creatures in my life...(The puppies will 1 year old in Feb. 2010. I will up date pictures soon!!!)

MAX - SCHNAUZER

AdoptedAdopted

Max….. Is a 9 year old male Schnauzer who has lived his entire life with the same family. However, they just decided they didn't want him anymore because their lives are to busy. He is a very sweet little guy and is so happy to be a little lap dog. He has never been around other dogs, so he is learning "doggy manners," but he loves to go on walks and does pretty well on a lead.  Max is house trained, crate trained, neutered, UTD on all his shots, tested HW neg. and is on HW prevention, and microchip. He isn't cat safe, bird safe, or good around small children, but Max would be good in a home with a single adult, or an elderly couple with grown children and older grandchildren.  Max is waiting for that special person to welcome him into their heart…..
