A few years ago I received a desperate call from a friend who works at a large St. Louis cancer center.  One of their patients was losing her long battle with cancer and her seven senior cats were soon to become homeless!  None of the shelters would even speak with her because of the age of her cats; everyone was already filled with adoptable cats and adorable kittens. To make it worse, these were rescue cats who were not trusting of strangers...it looked very grim.  My friend was told that I wasn't set up to take in that many cats (some with special needs), since my two elderly cats already took a lot of care.  But, after hearing how these pets were her family and how sad the situation looked, I agreed to take her cats in an effort to give her some peace of mind, knowing they would have a permanent home.  At present they are in temporary housing here, but our dream is to build a cat cottage with a large, secure, outdoor play area with a viewing bench for visitors.  Hopefully with your donations, this dream could come true.

I received a call from a St. Louis veterinarian, and it seems one of her clients had brought a cat in to be euthanized for not using the litter pan. Tests were run to see if there was anything medically wrong with the cat, but all the tests came back negative. They had also taken the cat to a behaviorist, but the problem went unsolved.  Finally the veterinarian was given permission by the owner to bring the cat here to the farm instead of euthanizing her.  Happily, the cat we fondly renamed Miss Diva (she has such an attitude), has lived here since last fall and is doing very well.  Miss Diva definitely lives up to her name!
