Did you know that the average cost of basic food, supplies, medical care and training for a dog or cat is $400 to $700 annually?

Did you know approximately 8 million to 12 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 5 million to 9 million are euthanized?

These are scary, but true facts. Unfortunately there are more scary than happy endings for many pets. The Shannon Foundation's bills never end because animals need to be fed daily, horses' feet need to be trimmed regularly, and the health of each animal depends on addressing their needs on a daily basis. Also, fences need to be fixed, shelters needs to be maintained, water needs to be supplied, and transportation to veterinarians must always be provided...this is just a small part of maintaining our farm.

We could only wish that every animal could be healthy, but the realization is that most of the animals arrive here starved, scared, and sick. It takes time, care, effort and money to bring back the shine in their coats and the glow in their eyes, but in the end you look back and know it's always worth the effort!

We are asking for something as simple as a monthly donation, or even a single donation. Would you consider taking that $20 you might spend on an evening out and supporting an animal here on the farm? Please remember when you go home to your pet(s), that there are animals who come here without ever knowing the meaning of words like home, love, or care.

The Shannon Foundation is a nonprofit organization, donations and contributions are tax-deductible. There are several ways you can help support the animals.
